Here you will find answers to some of your most frequently asked questions about our trips and Georgia in general.  If you can’t find the information you are looking for, please contact us; we are more than happy to help.

1) WHAT DOES WILD HORN DO?

Wild Horn is a Batumi based adventure travel company for small groups, outdoor lovers, mountain bikers, slackers, hikers, and food&drink adventurers. We are offering personalized custom adventures trips in Western Georgia, but our operating area includes whole Georgia.

2) HOW CAN I FIND OUT IF THE PLACES ARE STILL AVAILABLE ON A TRIP?

To find out if there are still places available on the trip you are interested in, please click on that trip, scroll down to the section called ‘prices and departures’.  Beside each departure date you will see the price, and next to that you whether there are places available or not.  You will also see ‘trip status’ which tells you whether the trip has reached a minimum number of bookings, making it guaranteed to run. We run trips with a minimum of two clients for hiking and four clients for cycling, so once we have received minimum bookings the trip status changes to ‘confirmed’, meaning you can book with confidence.

3) WHAT CLOTHING AND EQUIPMENT DO I NEED TO BRING?

We will send out a recommended clothing/equipment list to everyone who books a Wild Horn trips. Equipment will vary depending on the adventure trip you choose, so please have a look under the ‘TRIP STYLES’ link at the top of this page for your chosen activity and check the required “equipment list” for that activity.

4) DO YOU ALLOW CHILDREN ON YOUR TRIPS?

In most of the trips which we accept bookings the minimum age is 16 years. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. However, we do trips that we have designed especially for families which we can arrange just for you- take a look at our “PRIVATE CUSTOM TRIPS” section.

5) CAN I BRING MY DOG ON A TRIP?

Sadly, you cannot bring dogs (or other animals) in most of our listed trips.  However, it is possible for us to design a “PRIVATE CUSTOM TRIP” just for you, ensuring that we find adventure trips, walks and activities that are animal friendly.

6) AM I FIT / EXPERIENCED ENOUGHT TO JOIN A TRIP?

Each of our trips have a difficulty rating which goes from 1 to 10 (one being easiest) and is colour coded, with green being easiest and red most difficult. Of course, if you have any concerns or questions regarding your suitability to join a trip, or would like to find a trip that suits your experience level, please look at our “CONTACT US” section and do call or email us and we would be happy to help.  Being on the wrong trip (either too easy or too difficult) may have an impact on your enjoyment and on that of the rest of the group, so please do get in touch with any questions.

 7) WHAT’S THE WEATHER LIKE IN AJARA?

Adjara’s climate is subtropical, with mild winters and hot summers. The Black Sea coastline is humid compared with highland regions. The mountains are distinguished by the considerable amount of snowfall they receive, which sometimes reaches several meters. The temperature in the summer reaches 24oC in the plains and 19oC in areas with higher elevations. The average low temperatures in winter in the seaside Adjara is 5oC, whereas in the highland regions are slightly colder (3oC).

There are a few ways you can make a payment with Wild Horn:

Transfer the money in to Wild Horn bank account. Please e-mail or call your Wild Horn Travel Consultant for the bank details.Complete a payment form with your credit or debit card details and e-mail or fax this to your Wild Horn Travel Consultant.

10) WHAT DOES MY TRIP INCLUDE?

On the right hand side of each trip page you’ll be able to find the information regarding what’s included and what’s not included in the trip price. Usually each trip includes transportation, an experienced tour leader, meals (Breakfast, dinner, tea/coffee in the restaurant).

11)HOW MANY OTHER PEOPLE WILL BE ON THE TRIP?

Group sizes vary from trip to trip. As a guideline adventure camping trip could have around 4 to 16 passengers on board.

12) WHATS SORT OF PEOPLE WILL BE ON THE TRIP?

Wild Horn passengers come from all over the world and are aged between 18 and 60. Like you, they will be up for a great travel experience and meeting like-minded travelers.

13)IS IT A PROBLEM IF I TRAVEL ON MY OWN?

Not at all! Many of our passengers travel alone – often over 50% of our passengers start the trip solo and it’s a great way to meet people. What’s more, we don’t charge compulsory single supplements – instead we’ll match you up with a roommate(s) of the same sex.

14)WHAT VISAS WILL I NEED?

Over 90 nationalities need NO VISA for stays up to one year. Those who need visas can apply online and receive them by email.

  • Citizens of more than 90 countries and territories, listed at geoconsul.gov.ge, can enter Georgia without a visa for stays of up to one year.
  • Citizens of EU countries may enter Georgia with a national identity card instead of a passport; other nationalities must carry their passport.
  • Non-visa-free nationalities must obtain a visa in advance. For ‘short-term’ visits (up to 30 days), this is easiest done through the e-Visa Portal (evisa.gov.ge), where you upload documents and pay US$20.40 online by Visa or MasterCard. You receive the visa by email within five working days.
  • Short-term visas can also be – and longer-term visas must be – applied for at a Georgian consular office in your country of citizenship or residence. See geoconsul.gov.ge.

15) DO I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE?

Wild Horn Travel Agency do not provide the travel insurance for the travelers. We recommend getting a comprehensive travel insurance policy which covers you for all medical expenses (including repatriation) and any expensive items you bring away with you such as laptops, tablets, smart phones and cameras.  Travel insurance should be taken out at the time of booking in case of unforeseen events which may lead you to cancel your trip. If you are bored to care about getting travel insurance we can manage to do it in in local travel insurance office. In this case you need to contact us minimum 2 month before the arrival date and negotiate on the travel package that will be the additional cost in the trip price.

16) HOW DO ADVENTURE CAMPING TRIPS WORK?

Our Camping trips stay in dome-style tents on a twin share basis at some of the beautiful mountains in Western Georgia. Dome tents are surprisingly spacious and you’ll be supplied with a comfy Therm-a-rest mattress to sleep on, you will also get appropriate sleeping bag. You and your tent partner will erect and dismantle your own tent at each stop, but you will be given a demonstration by your Wild Horn Crew on the first day of the trip.

17) WHAT WILL I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?

A common problem is people bringing too many things! Please refer to our suggested clothing list in the pre-departure information which we will send the details for the particular trip. Oh, and don’t forget your camera, passport, visas and a positive attitude! If you suffer from any medical condition please bring extra supplies of medication as it could be difficult to find in Georgia.

18) HOW MUCH LUGGAGE AM I ALLOWED TO BRING?

Each person is allowed 1 item of standard size backpacks, plus a day pack (+sleeping bag if your height exceeds 2 meter). The maximum weight of your main bag must not exceed 10kgs. Size for all bags must not exceed 50cm x 30cm x 20cm. If you do not have backpacks we will provide 35 liter salewa backpack.

19) WHAT ABOUT SPENDING MONEY?

Naturally everybody’s spending varies. There are many souvenirs to be bought and a great social scene should you wish to join in! Many of your meals are included, so this really just leaves a few meals and your personal spending to budget for. Throughout the trip, your Trip Leader will also inform you of optional activities which you can participate in. For a more detailed list and price guideline please refer to the individual trip page or your personal itinerary.

20) DO I NEED TO CHANGE MONEY BEFORE I LEAVE?

We recommend that you change approximately $50 in cash before departure and the equivalent of around $30 into. This will cover you for spending money until you have the chance to change more or visit an ATM.  ATMs are extremely common all around Georgia. This is the most convenient way to access local currency, just make sure to notify your bank of your travel plans before you depart.

21) WHAT IF I AM A SMOKER?

Smoking is not permitted on our coaches, however we stop regularly while travelling from place to place. Smoking is not permitted in any type of accommodation, including our tents.

22) HOW DOES THE FOOD WORK?

On all Adventure camping trips a compulsory Food Fund is shown separately from the trip price. This is paid at the time of booking. The Food Fund covers included group meals whilst on your trip. Unlike other companies, in addition to the listed breakfasts and dinners, Topdeck also includes many lunches on travelling days (Hostel Plus & Camping trips only. Not applicable for winter/spring trips. Please check the ‘More Inclusions’ section of your itinerary). This means you don’t have to buy lunch at expensive motorway service stations, saving you plenty of money. Your Food Fund also includes many meals at local restaurants giving you the opportunity to sample local cuisine as you explore Europe.

23) WHAT IF I AM ON A SPECIAL DIET?

If you have special dietary requirements e.g. vegetarian or vegan, we will make every endeavor to cater for your specific needs as long as you tell us or your travel agent when you book. Unfortunately in some places in Georgia it is not possible to obtain certain special foods, and we cannot guarantee the variety of foods available when eating out. Our Tour leader will put every effort into catering for your specific needs. There are some diets we are unable to cater for such as religious diets, so if you are unsure please call us or ask your travel agent to check.

24) IS THERE FREE Wi-Fi ON ADVENTURE TRIPS?

Free Wi-Fi is available for passengers travelling on adventure trip. But due to the geographic mountainous area the strengths of the connection is limited. Please be informed that on some camping site, sometimes there is no way to have an internet connection.

25) HOW CAN I KEEP UP TO DATE?

Please check this website before you travel for the most up to date information on our trips. You can also contact us via social media, on Facebook or ask us new details regarding weather conditions or number of members in the trip or whatever you are interested.
